Tuscany

Today we had Paul and Holly’s Excellent Adventure! Once we figured out the TomTom, which by the way had an Aussie accent, so we named him ‘Mick’, it was pretty easy getting around. First we went to San Gimingiano, gorgeous mid evil town. Lots of torture chamber museums. Only peeked once. Honest! It’s known for its 13 towers, and no I didn’t climb the towers. Next we went to Volterro, known for alabaster art work. Amazing art work. met one of the sculptors and bought one of her pieces. And last to Cortona (where they filmed Under the Tuscan Sun) the steepest, cobblestone city EVER! Never did find the piazza and open air market. I can’t believe I climbed all those damn steps! Little old ladies with their canes were passing me. But, I couldn’t back down from the challenge. And the cathedral and monastery at the top were worth it. We seriously considered tucking and rolling holly down the hill, but decided Paul couldn’t have kept up. and the little old ladies were laughing at me. I couldn’t back down from the challenge. Damn Etruscan city designers! Oh well, I always wanted new knees so I could be the Bionic Woman! Tomorrow we head to Naples then Postitano.
